Share prices of Ambuja Cements and unit ACC rose over 3 per cent and 6 per cent respectively on Monday after conglomerate Adani Group said it would buy Holcim AG's controlling stake in the companies.

Ambuja Cements, ACC have capacity of 70 million tonnes per annum

Holcim, through its subsidiaries, holds 63.19 per cent in Ambuja Cements and 54.53 per cent in ACC (of which 50.05 per cent is held through Ambuja Cements).

Ambuja Cements share price rose 3.89 per cent or 13.95 points at Rs 372.75 on BSE. On NSE, the shares gained 3.98 per cent or 14.30 points at Rs 373.40.

UltraTech Cement share price fell 1.63 per cent or 100 points to Rs 6099.10 on BSE. On NSE, the share price of Ultratech Cement fell 1.69 per cent or 104 per cent to Rs 6,091.70.

Shree Cement share price dropped 1.67 per cent or 377.60 points to Rs 2,2170 on BSE.  On NSE, the share price fell 2.05 per cent or 462.15 points to Rs 22,103.20.

Becoming the second-largest cement player in the sector hasn’t come cheap for the Adani Group. For Holcim’s stake in Ambuja and ACC, the group has paid $10.5 billion.
