BYD will supply batteries to tesla for electric vehicles

BYD is the world's largest manufacturer of fleet vehicles, which includes electric vehicles as well as plug-in hybrids, is trying to provide the batteries for other car makers, including Toyota.

China's BYD is in the process of supplying Tesla Inc with batteries "very soon". 

Lian Yubo said : "We are now good friends with Elon Musk because we are preparing to supply batteries to Tesla very soon," 

In 2020, BYD officially launched its Blade battery, a less bulky lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery ...

Chinese battery manufacturer CATL is the only provider to LFP battery to Tesla who has been installing the batteries into vehicles built at the Shanghai plant since 2020. 

Tesla revealed that more than 50% of the vehicles it built in the first quarter of the year were fitted with LFP batteries.

A lower cost alternative to nickel and cobalt batteries that are prevalent across the West. 

Panasonic along with LG Energy Solutions are the principal suppliers of nickel and cobalt-based cell to Tesla.
